‘IT Girls’ Gets a Whole New Meaning
Usually IT Girls are the epitome of the glamorous young woman gracing the media.
Claritas is giving the phrase a whole new meaning.
Claritas Solutions, based in East Leeds, has recently appointed four new female members of staff to work within its IT business. With a total staff of around 50, the company has found that more women are applying for posts, and proving to be just what is needed to keep the company moving forward.
These four new appointments are all from the greater Leeds area, and all with a background of ambition and success. Andrea Olsen has joined the New Business Team as Account Manager and Katie Fraser-Smith as Marketing Manager. Jennifer Birss and Vanessa Wood have both been appointed as Account Managers.
These girls are really proving their worth, and though we were not necessarily looking to weigh the scales towards female recruitment, it is certainly proving a very positive move for our sales performance.Glenn Scaife, Managing Director, Claritas Solutions Ltd
Andrea has a career spanning 15 years in high achieving sales positions. Katie has nearly 20 years’ experience working in marketing and takes over the strategic and implementation of all marketing disciplines. Jennifer is a graduate of Leeds University and Vanessa is steeped in sales and customer service experience.
Overall in the UK the IT workforce is made up of only 16% women, while at Claritas it is approaching 40%. The first Women in IT Awards was launched in January this year and an inaugural International Girls in ICT Day in April next year, so there is a stirring in the industry.
Claritas now in its 18 year specialises in very high end security solutions for both the private and public sectors. Claritas also delivers independent IT services, tailor made Information Technology systems and wrap round solutions. It offers a total service to support clients’ strategic business objectives. The Company has also been appointed as an official supplier to the Government G Cloud procurement framework.
