Here at Claritas we like to shine our spotlight on the terrific staff we have, exploring their roles, their previous experience and also who they are as a person.
The latest member of staff we’ve spoken to is New Business Account Manager, Jennie Keen. Today we learn more about her role at Claritas and the things she likes most about her job.
Tell us about your role at Claritas
I am relatively new to the sales team at Claritas Solutions and very new to the I.T. industry. It is always something I wanted to get into, so starting at Claritas gave my role the perfect combination of working in tech and sales.
Every day is like a whirlwind and I find I am learning at least five new acronyms a day. Here is one I learnt on day one, SaaS – Software as a Service, not a girl with attitude apparently!
What prior experience do you have?
I have worked in account management nearly 8 years, 6 of those in sales. I would say that building relationships comes naturally to me. I am now several months into the daily schooling of the information technology world, and it is great. There is a LOT to take in and it’s constantly changing.
What would a normal day consist of?
There is no day normal at Claritas. It is completely varied. I could be pulling together information for a particular campaign, liaising with our tech teams and customers, meeting with suppliers or out on the road meeting our lovely new customers.
What is the thing you love the most about your job?
The learning. I love to learn and coming into a new industry that is so complex has given this to me. I also love to talk and meet new people and that is exactly what I do week in, week out.
Do you have any advice to give to others looking at a similar career?
Be like a sponge. Don’t be fearful about getting things wrong and having to ask for help. We are experts in sales not technology and we should not be afraid to be constantly learning and asking those around us.
What do you enjoy doing when not in work?
I like to get creative and quite often attend art or pottery workshops. Currently I’m making a collection of Harry Pottery. I also like to try new gins; I cannot wait for more sunshine on weekends.
